Course Description:
This course is an introduction to mathematical probability. Topics include calculus of probability, combinatorial analysis, random variables, expectation, distribution functions, moment-generating functions, and central limit theorem.
Prerequisite(s):
A course in calculus and a course in advanced calculus.
Required Software:
Mathematica student version is available for registered students for a nominal fee at http://www.cso.uiuc.edu/software/sls. NetID and password will be needed to access the site.
Credit: 3 or 4 hours. An extra substantive project is required for students enrolling for 4 hours.
